The_John_Hicks_Trio
ALBUM Live Recording Flacs. John Hick's career leading his own trios has been documented with more than twenty albums. As a pianist with John Coltrane, Sonny Rollins, Joe Lovano, Nick Brignola, Pharaoh Saunders, Betty Carter, and jazz stalwarts too numerous to list, his work is no less well-documented on albums and the fast growing world of jazz publications. Hicks is a major pianist who has worked at the heart of the jazz scene ever since he arrived in New York in the early '60s. "Sunshower" finds this melodic keyboardist with his west coast trio in a live concert on a blistering hot September day at the Adobe House in picturesque Mountain View, California. The occasion evolved into an unspoken tribute to pianists John Hicks deeply admires. - Jim Merod, Thanksgiving 2004.
